Rewiring the Nervous System.

With trauma there is too much incoming information happening too quickly for the Nervous System to process it appropriately. Without resolution this information will continue to provide inaccurate feedback to your brain resulting in continued symptoms of pain or discomfort and movement issues.

It continues to react and respond to life believing it’s still injured long after the injury has healed.

  • Highly recommend.

I came to her originally for neck, back and shoulder pain. Marissa was able to help clear the issues I was having after just a few visits!

  • Your body will thank you.

It’s an incredible experience. This is the best I have slept, my body feels relaxed, and I feel free of the heaviness of life. I wish I knew of this sooner.

  • The most incredible experience of my life.

Not only has my original quest of healing for my back been satisfied, but a trip down the rabbit hole has given me the greatest mental & emotional healing ever.

  • I live 5 hours away and will keep coming back.

If your goal is to avoid potentially harmful band aid solutions and you want to feel empowered in your healing process, go see her! Not to mention, it’s crazy cool to watch your body respond as she “speaks” to the nervous system and tells it to let go, stop compensating, and get its act together.

  • Movement and emotional health improved!

Amazing in helping me regain motion in my shoulder. I had a plate installed almost 6 years ago. I never regained as much range as was expected. About a year ago I started working with Marissa. I have so much more range of motion now.

FAQs

In the initial session we will go over a detailed health history intake together. Every session involves a number of assessments to gauge how the Nervous System is functioning prior to moving into your primary issue.

The nuts and bolts of treatment:

  • Nervous System Response testing to assess proper processing capacity.
  • Functional Muscle Testing to discover where there is a neural disconnect creating faulty pain/movement issues.
  • Manually applied neurostimulus to assess receptor issues causing a corrupted feedback loop.
  • Targeted soft tissue work to reduce localized sensitivity.

This is different for everyone and every session could be different.

It’s important to understand the Nervous System generally has a 3 day integration period where the work and your lifestyle are working to stabilize. Anything that happens within this time period should be considered ‘normal’ for this processing.

After this integration you should be noticing change with the quality, frequency, and duration of the symptoms.

This has many variables such as your history, your goals, how you progress, and how you take care of yourself outside of session.

Nervous System work is an intentional process that requires space and time to adapt to change. It is deep work that navigates through the layers of protective strategies contributing to pain and performance issues. It is not a quick fix.

You should be noticing positive changes within 3 sessions. If you are not getting the results you want as quickly as you would like, then we will end our time working together.

Functional Neurology is incredibly effective, but contrary to popular belief, it’s not magic. The more effort you put into helping yourself through this process the more you will benefit. I will advise you on the best area to target your efforts that works with your Nervous System instead of against it.

No, with a caveat. Generally, Functional Neurology opens your Systems up to receiving greater benefit from your practices.

Occasionally, different methodologies can create friction that causes confusion and/or muddied results. If this arises we will have an open honest conversation on best practices moving forward and I may choose to pause our work together.

Absolutely. Kids are in a constant state of learning so their Nervous Systems are wired for change. They tend to be very resilient and responsive to this work.

I work with a lot of school athletes for injury recovery, prevention, and performance enhancement.

Neurosomatic Mapping is very effective for kids and teens that are struggling to manage their feelings and emotions.

No. It’s beneficial for anyone looking to build a deeper connection with their body, enhance their self-awareness, improve functional movement, and create nervous system balance.

No. My practice is self-pay only.
